Privacy Policy

This policy explains what CoinMap collects when you use the iOS app or coin-map.com, and how we use it. If you have questions, email info@bllekholl.com.

What we collect

Depending on how you use CoinMap, we may collect:

• Account details: email address, display name, and a profile photo if you add one.
• Username: a public handle such as @collector_48213. We assign one at random when you sign up, and you can change it once in the app.
• Sign-in with Apple or Google: the identifier and email those providers share with us, including a hidden relay email if you choose Hide My Email. If Apple shares your name when you first sign in, we use it as your display name. You can change it in the app.
• Collection data: coin details you save, country coverage on the map, photos of coin obverse and reverse used for identification and your library, and any feedback you give on whether a scan was right.
• Scan activity: how many scans you run, so we can apply the free daily limit.
• Purchase details: whether Pro is active, which plan you bought, its price and currency, and when it started and expires, provided by Apple through RevenueCat. We do not receive your full card number.
• Device and advertising identifiers: Apple's advertising identifier if you allow tracking, Apple's identifier for vendors, a Facebook anonymous ID, your IP address, and basic device details.
• App activity: events such as installing and opening the app, starting a subscription, and making a purchase.
• Diagnostics: error and performance information that helps us keep CoinMap working.

How we use it

We use this information to run your account, identify coins, store your collection, show the world map and leaderboard, enforce scan limits, restore Pro, respond to support requests, keep the service working, and measure and improve our advertising.

AI coin identification

CoinMap uses Google's Gemini API, a third-party AI service, to identify coins. When you scan a coin, both photos are sent to Google with our instructions. Gemini uses Google Search to check catalogues and recent prices, then returns the coin's details, descriptions, and estimated value. We do not send your name, email address, or username with the photos, but anything visible in a photo goes to Google, so keep people, documents, and other private details out of the frame.

We tell Google not to keep these requests in its interaction history. Google handles the photos under its own API terms. If you do not want your coin photos sent to Google, do not use the scan feature.

Advertising and tracking

We use the Meta SDK (Facebook App Events) and RevenueCat to find out whether our ads lead to installs and subscriptions. The app asks for your permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.

• If you allow tracking, Meta can receive your advertising identifier with the app and purchase events listed above, and can use them to measure and improve our ads and show you more relevant ads.
• If you decline, we turn off collection of your advertising identifier. App and purchase events can still reach Meta with your Facebook anonymous ID and device details.
• The Meta SDK starts when the app opens, so an install or app-open event can reach Meta before you answer the prompt.
• Whatever you choose, RevenueCat stores your email address, Facebook anonymous ID, and device identifiers with your purchase record, and it may send purchase events to Meta for us.

Meta handles the data it receives under its own terms and privacy policy. You can change your tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.

Leaderboard and public collections

CoinMap lets collectors see and explore each other's collections. Unless you change the privacy settings below, your profile is public by default:

• The leaderboard shows your display name, profile photo, username, and how many coins and countries you have collected.
• Other signed-in collectors can explore your collection, either from the leaderboard or by searching your exact username. They can see your world map and your coins, including coin photos, country, year, denomination, metal, grade, estimated value, and the coin descriptions CoinMap generated.
• Your private coin notes and your favorites are never shown to anyone else. Neither are your email address or purchase details.

You can change this at any time in the app under Profile, then Privacy. There are two separate settings, and both are off by default:

• Hide from leaderboard removes you from the rankings. People who know your username can still explore your collection unless you also hide it.
• Hide my collection stops anyone else from viewing your map and coins, from the leaderboard or by username. You can stay on the leaderboard with your collection hidden.

When you hide your collection, it stops loading for other people straight away. Photos someone has already viewed may stay in their device's cache for a while.

Who we share data with

• Google: coin photos sent to Gemini, and sign-in details if you use Google sign-in.
• Apple: sign-in details if you use Sign in with Apple, and your App Store purchases.
• Meta: the app events, purchase events, and identifiers described under Advertising and tracking.
• RevenueCat: your CoinMap user ID, email address, purchase details, and the identifiers described above.
• Supabase: account and collection records.
• Cloudflare R2: coin and profile photos.
• Our website host: requests your app or browser sends to coin-map.com.
• Other collectors: the profile and collection details described above.
• Authorities or advisers, when the law requires it or to protect people or CoinMap.

We share data only for the purposes in this policy. Companies that receive your data from us must give it the same or equal protection as this policy. Some of them process data outside your country.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information for money. Sharing identifiers and events with Meta for advertising may count as "sharing" under some privacy laws, such as California's. We do not use your coin photos to advertise to you. We do not require access to your photo library beyond the pictures you choose to upload.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and collection data while your account is open. When you discard a scan result, we delete its photos. If that request does not reach us, they stay until you delete your account.

If you delete your account in the app, we remove your profile, coins, scans, stored photos, and sign-in account. Some data is not removed by that step:

• RevenueCat keeps your purchase record, which can include your email address, Facebook anonymous ID, and device identifiers, so purchases can be restored.
• We keep the purchase events RevenueCat sends us, which can contain the same details, for accounting and fraud prevention.
• Apple keeps its own purchase records.
• Data already sent to Google or Meta follows those companies' own retention rules.

You can email us to ask us to remove what we and RevenueCat hold. We will do so unless we have to keep it by law. Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription. Cancel it in iOS Settings.

Children

CoinMap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can update your display name and profile photo in the app, change your username once, choose whether to appear on the leaderboard and whether others can explore your collection, sign out, or delete your account. You can manage Sign in with Apple in iOS Settings. For Google, use your Google account permissions.

To withdraw consent, turn off tracking for CoinMap in iOS Settings, stop using the scan feature, hide your profile and collection in the app, delete your account, or email us.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to how we use it. To make a request, email info@bllekholl.com.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. The date at the top is the latest version.
